Playskill groups
Find out what to expect from a Playskill session
The Playskill team is made up of many hardworking staff members and volunteers. Each group session has a group leader, a paediatric physiotherapist, speech and language therapist and an occupational therapist. Specialist family key workers and our group volunteers assist with the running of the group and help with refreshments.
Every child is assigned a key worker for the term as well as bespoke targets to work on and achieve.
Normally, each session runs for two hours, with eight children and their families attending. During the sessions children will be welcomed with a song, and then move on to receive their therapy, snack time, messy play and finish with a visit to the soft play or sensory room, giving parents a much needed coffee break while their child is looked after.
Once your child begins their first term with us, they will be assessed by our on-site team and we will make three personal and specific objectives for their development in conjunction with you.
The objectives which have been set for your child will be developed during these times of play and interaction and they will be monitored throughout the term.
Session times
Morning group sessions run from 9.30-11.30am Afternoon group sessions run from 12.30-2.30pm - children should bring a packed lunch to these.
We run sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
Our groups are aimed at different levels of need with Monday morning being for children with the most complex needs, through to Friday afternoon for children who may be accessing education already at preschool or reception level.
