Parent Support Worker

Playskill is an award winning, growing children’s charity. Parent Support is a key value for our charity. Supporting children with special physical needs and their parents particularly when the children are pre-school age. As a Parent Support worker you will be responsible for assisting parents with finding support from health, social care and education for their child with physical difficulty or delay. As an applicant you will have clear previous experience of working with parents, you will have excellent literacy and communication skills and experience of people management and conflict resolution. You will be experienced at training and mentoring. You will have a detailed understanding of the EHCP process. The applicant will need to understand working with children with special needs, and the training required for this and work flexibly between bases in Watford and Hemel Hempstead, and working from home as required. Work will be flexible to the needs of the parents being supported. The role is for a minimum of 6 hours per week at £15.21 per hour.

We are looking for an experienced Paediatric SLT to join our multi-disciplinary team, for the charity Playskill, with pre-school age children, working in a play based setting. Fridays, term-time, 9-12.15pm and 12.15pm to 3.30pm term-time, in Hemel Hempstead.

Qualified paediatric experience is an essential requirement.  You will have experience in working with children who have complex needs and a range of associated communication difficulties, as well as knowledge of AAC.  

Knowledge of Makaton signing is highly desirable; experience in paediatric dysphagia would be beneficial. Applicants need to be fit for pre-school based work. The role also involves supporting staff and parents with training.

£21.56 per hour [including holiday pay], with pension option.   DBS
